Hey Death, I hope you sit a fair distance from televisions that big, otherwise you would probably have to continuously turn your head 90 degrees both ways while playing. It would take me a decade to get used to gaming on something that big. Let us all know how it is when you get it all hooked up. _________________

Sweet set-up Death. I just got a new 50 inch HDTV but I don't play my Xbox on it....It's strictly for porn....just kidding. I have another 32 inch LCD HDTV too. I currently play my Xbox on a 22 inch HD Monitor. For some reason I like playing it on the smaller screen although I do play every once and a while on my 32 inch.
You'll have to take some pics of your set-up and put them on here sometime! |

Hey Machine, that's exactly what I have my Xbox 360 console hooked up to. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW 22" widescreen, which is also HDCP compliant for HD movies. It has awesome picture quality for the price that I paid and I have been very happy with it thus far.

That's a very nice set up that you have. I hope you’re intending to use that plasma television more for movies and broadcasts, and not for the Xbox 360. If you do use your Xbox 360 on it, be extremely careful, because plasma televisions are the worst when it comes to static images being burnt onto the screen. The picture quality on plasma televisions is terrific though, and I hope you'll enjoy it for years to come.
I own the standard Planet Earth collection, and I'm still amazed at the some of the footage that was taken. With the exception of Antarctica, a lot of time was spent filming aerial footage from the helicopter. When they were filming on the ground, they would sometimes spend all day just filming one event. It was well worth the cost. _________________

I intend to abuse and use this TV until it starts smoken !!
Thanks X for the burn-in alert. I understand the most vunerable time is the first 200 hours ( about a weekend for your playing history ) for static image retention. I thought (but I could be wrong) that Panasonic has a function that moves the image a wee fart distance every few seconds to help avoid burn in. And some units, have a recovery function where by the set displays a uniform grey then white to re-energize wayward pixels. So far I havnt found documentation about that in the manual so I might be FUBARed. I'll keep U posted.
I did however dial back the brightness about 20% and will try another 10 or 20% next time I play. I found the contrast too hard to focus on moving targets. I understand image rentention is more pronounced with high brightness.
HD is sooooo the way to go. My god there is rust on the pipes, look the grass, oh look the smoke plum!, and oh look at "BANG!" ........ tourists dont make good soldiers eh?. |
